Ideal for caustic alkali corrosive solutions

Nickel200 Upsplash Free Papermill

Nickel 200 flanges are made from commercially pure nickel and are best known for their excellent performance in caustic alkali solutions such as caustic soda (NaOH). Nickel 200 also exhibits good performance in acids, especially HF (Hydrofluoric Acid - anhydrous) and hydroxides – but can be attacked by common solutions of hydrochloric or sulfuric acids.

From a mechanical perspective, Nickel 200 s have good ductility and low hardness, so they are tough, but not particularly strong (60-85 KSI UTS). See Tensile, Yield & Elongation Chart.

Corrosion
Nickel 200 flanges are resistant to corrosive environments, most notably reducing chemicals. They offer outstanding protection to caustic alkaline solutions. However, Nickel 200 flanges will be severely attacked in oxidizing salt solutions.

Chemical Resistance
o  Sodium Hydroxide (NaOH): Excellent resistance to all concentrations of caustic soda.
o  Alkalis: Excellent resistance except for ammonium hydroxide.
o  Sulfuric acid: Moderate resistance to nonaerated sulfuric acid solutions near room temperature.
o  Hydrochloric: Limited resistance in specific environments only.
o  Hydrofluoric: Good resistance to anhydrous hydrofluoric acid even at high temperatures. Nickel 200 it has limited resistance to aqueous HF solutions.
o  Important: Oxidizing acid chlorides such as ferric, cupric and mercuric are very corrosive to Nickel 200 flanges.

General
o  60-85 KSI UTS
o  15-45 KSI Yield
o  Typically used in application temperatures less than 600F / 315C

Applications
o  Most often used in chemical and electronic processing, especially applications that deal with caustic soda.
o  High electrical and thermal conductivity, as well as magnetostrictive properties make Nickel 200 flanges useful in electrics and sonic devices.
o  Nickel 200 flanges are used in salt production and applications that use sodium hydroxide and fluorine.

Nickel 200 Flange Styles

Blind Flange       Blind Flanges
Nickel 200 blind flanges seal a flanged opening. o ASME B16.5
o DIN 2527
lap joint flange with outline   Lap Joint Flanges
Nickel 200 lap joint flanges fit over stub end, allowing the flanges to swivel freely. This makes aligning fastener holes easier for processes that need frequent changes. Both the flange and stub ends are offered. o ASME B16.5
o DIN 2641, 2642
Slip on Flange   Slip On Flanges Nickel 200 slip on flanges are like socket weld flanges but without the shoulder. Slip on flanges allow the pipe to slide completely through the flange hub. o ASME B16.5
o DIN 2573
o DIN 2576
o DIN 2502
o DIN 2503
socket weld flange solo     Socket Weld Flanges
Nickel 200 socket weld flanges feature an added interior shoulder for the pipe to rest. They are ideal for small size, high pressure applications. o ASME B16.5
Threaded flange Revised   Threaded Flanges
Nickel 200 threaded flanges feature interior threads which tightly seal to the pipe without welding. They are ideal for hazardous or flammable applications where welding is not possible. Nickel 200 threaded flanges are also used for small pipe connections. o ASME B16.5
o DIN 2625-2629
weld neck flange solo     Weld Neck Flanges Nickel 200 weld neck flanges have a long tapered neck with the bore to match the inside diameter of the pipe. This tight seal prevents turbulance in high pressure and hazzardous applications. o ASME B16.5
o DIN 2630- 2638
o DIN 2627-2629
