Q: Hi, I need a torque range for a A286 (aged, 160 ksi UTS) 1″-8 hex bolt. The
calculator gives a torque value of 826 ft*lbs but is there a range that is
acceptable?
A: One thing you have to remember about torque, is it is an approximation. You could easily be within plus or minus 40% from bolt to bolt depending on a variety of factors, such as dirt, debris, lubrication etc. See the link to a blog written about this for more information.
