NACE MR0175 is a standard established specifically for materials used in the exploration and production of petroleum, petrochemical, and natural gas. Essentially it is a set of principles and recommendations for the selection of corrosion resistant metals (including steels, irons and corrosion resistant alloys) that prevent H2S stress corrosion cracking in sour gas. Material that is NACE MR0175 specified will have certain specifications to minimize stress corrosion cracking.
